May 11, 2018Alice, Texas, USA, - Recently the Jim Wells County Appraisal District mailed the 2018 Jim Wells County Appraisal District Statement of Property Value. The City of Alice would like to provide a brief explanation of the statement.
The top box of the statement is the 2018 Appraised Value that, by Texas Tax Code, is solely determined by the Jim Wells County Appraisal District. The City of Alice does not determine this value.
The third box down has one line item that is labeled “ALICE CITY” and this line shows an estimate of what the City of Alice property tax could be based on the 2017 tax rate.
The other lines are the estimated property tax for the other taxing entities. These estimated tax amounts could stay the same, increase or decrease depending on the tax rate set by each taxing entity. The tax rates are set independently be each taxing entity typically in September of each year.
