Criminal Investigations Division

The Criminal Investigations Division is made up of a Director of Investigations, Six Sergeant Investigators assigned to Criminal and Narcotic Investigations, and One Sergeant Investigator assigned to Highway Interdiction and K-9.

The Criminal Investigation Division is responsible for follow-up investigation on most criminal offenses reported to the police. CID is made up of Seven (7) Detectives and One (1) Investigations Clerk. Detectives assigned to Investigations handle specialized investigations such as crime scene, theft, forgery, assault, homicide, robbery and sexual assault. Narcotic investigations are handled by Detectives assigned to the Jim Wells County Task Force and investigate all narcotic crimes to include possession, distribution, sale, manufacturing, and transportation of illegal drugs and financial crimes from money laundering. One of the Seven Investigators is assigned to Highway Interdiction and has a K-9 Partner who is trained on drug detection.  Information alerts are shared with appropriate divisions and outside agencies in an attempt to prevent further criminal activity. Upon completion, successful investigations from the Criminal Investigation Division are presented to the County or District Attorney for prosecution.
